Serving The Colony Drivers

The Collision Shop The Colony's Grandscape Corridor Drivers Trust

The Colony isn't a quiet bedroom suburb the way its northern neighbors are. It's a fast-growing master-planned city of roughly 48,000 (up about 30% since the 2010 census, per the Town of The Colony) with a profile that reads more like Frisco's than Highland Village's — Grandscape pulls DFW-wide weekend traffic into the Nebraska Furniture Mart and Scheels parking lots, Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121) carries commuters through at freeway speed, and a driveway fleet that skews noticeably newer than older suburbs. That combination — high parking-lot volume plus high-speed tollway exposure plus ADAS-heavy late-model vehicles — produces a very specific mix of collision work, and it's the work we've been repairing at our Metro Park Circle bay, 15 to 20 minutes west across SH 121, for the better part of two decades.

The damage patterns we see from The Colony are distinctive. Grandscape parking-lot hits are the highest-volume category — the Nebraska Furniture Mart and Scheels lots are genuinely enormous, cart corrals are sparse at the perimeters, and weekend traffic generates a steady stream of door dings, cart strikes, mirror scrapes, and low-speed bumper contact on vehicles that cost real money to refinish correctly. SH 121 rear-enders are the second recurring pattern, and they are not cosmetic — the tollway cruises at 55 to 70 mph, which means when a stacking accident happens in the Plano Parkway or Grandscape on-ramp zone, airbags engage, structural rails flex, and ADAS brackets behind the bumper almost always need repair and recalibration. The third: apartment-complex parking around Austin Ranch and Legends Village, where the combination of young families, tight stalls, and back-out geometry produces weekly low-speed fender damage. And because The Colony's population grew roughly 30% since 2010, the vehicle fleet here is genuinely newer than what rolls through older suburbs — more factory-warranty-age SUVs and crossovers, more ADAS suites that require calibration after any bumper or windshield work, more aluminum-intensive construction under the skin.

We treat every one of these repairs the way the engineers intended — computerized frame measurement on every collision-damaged unibody, OEM parts on every safety-critical component, pre- and post-repair diagnostic scans, and full collision repair plus paint & refinishing under the same roof. On the newer ADAS-heavy vehicles so common in The Colony driveways, that also means in-house ADAS recalibration is standard procedure, not a sublet afterthought. Lifetime paint warranty. Free loaner cars so your run to Plano, Frisco, Dallas, or the Main Event on the other side of Grandscape keeps moving. No charge for the written estimate. Start online below, or walk in any weekday between 8:30am and 5:30pm — we're a tollway run away from The Colony High School, a straight shot west from The Tribute, and half an hour closer than the Plano shops your insurer's preferred-shop list will usually try to route you toward.

What We Handle

COLLISION & AUTO BODY SERVICES FOR THE COLONY

The damage patterns we see most from the 75056 corridor — plus everything else.

Rear-End Collision Repair

SH 121 tollway stacking hits are never "just a bumper" — 55-70 mph impacts flex structural rails and damage ADAS brackets behind the fascia. We repair the unibody, replace OEM safety components, and recalibrate every sensor before you drive it home.

Front-End Damage

Hoods, fenders, headlights, radiator support, and frame horns. Airbag, crash-sensor, and condenser replacement on OEM procedures — never recycled guesswork on safety-critical parts common in new-construction vehicles.

Grandscape Parking-Lot Damage

The signature repair in The Colony. Door dings, cart hits, mirror scrapes, bumper curb rash, runaway-door strikes in the Nebraska Furniture Mart, Scheels, and Main Event lots. Spectrophotometer paint match, 1-2 day turnaround on most.

Frame Straightening

Computerized frame measurement on Blackhawk Korek + Hein-Werner SHARK. Accurate to 1mm of factory dimensions. Free on every collision vehicle — even estimate-only visits. Frame repair detail →

ADAS Recalibration

Lane-departure cameras, blind-spot radar, adaptive cruise, parking sensors — calibrated to OEM static and dynamic spec after every collision. With The Colony's newer vehicle fleet, this is mandatory, not optional. ADAS detail →

Paint & Refinishing

PPG Envirobase waterborne basecoat in a downdraft heated booth. Color-matched to your vehicle's factory paint code via spectrophotometer — metallics and pearls included. Lifetime warranty. Paint service detail →

The DG Standard

WHY THE COLONY DRIVERS CHOOSE DG

Not the closest chain shop to Grandscape — the closest shop that does the work the way the manufacturers intended.

01

The Colony's population grew roughly 30% since the 2010 census (now ~48,000 residents), so the driveway fleet skews newer than older suburbs — more ADAS suites, more aluminum-intensive construction, more factory-warranty-age vehicles. Combine that with SH 121 running through town at 55-70 mph and the average collision we see is structurally serious, not cosmetic. Gold Class is the shop-wide I-CAR designation (only ~10% of U.S. body shops hold it). Platinum is the technician certification covering structural repair, steel GMA welding, and aluminum GMA welding. Both matter on the Teslas, F-150s, Lexus RXs, and new BMW / Audi SUVs that populate The Colony's driveways.

02

Insurers have preferred-shop lists, and most of the "recommended" shops for The Colony customers are in Plano or Frisco — farther, busier, and not always Gold Class. Texas law — Insurance Code §1952.301 — says you don't have to go there. When an adjuster pushes you toward a network shop, you just say "I want my vehicle repaired at DG Collision Center, 693 Metro Park Cir, Lewisville, TX." Call done. We handle the claim paperwork, adjuster scheduling, and supplement negotiations from there.

03

Most collision shops in DFW sublet their ADAS recalibration — a windshield shop here, a dealer service bay there, two extra days in the schedule, and zero quality control over the final aiming. We do every calibration in-house on Autel MaxiSys target boards, Bosch DAS 3000 tools, and Hunter HawkEye Elite alignment verification, with a printed report filed against the repair. For The Colony's ADAS-heavy fleet that's the difference between a repair that works and one that silently doesn't — lane-keep steering you the wrong way at 65 mph on SH 121 is not a theoretical problem.

04

Free loaner cars on every collision repair from our 50+ vehicle loaner fleet — so your commute into Plano, Frisco, Irving, or Dallas keeps moving. Pickup coordination available for The Colony customers who need a ride home after drop-off. Lifetime paint warranty for as long as you own the vehicle — not three years, not "until you trade it in." We also offer deductible assistance up to $1,000 on qualifying repairs, applied directly at pickup. Combined with our direct-to-insurance claim handling, most customers pay less out of pocket than the initial deductible number suggests.

From The Shop Floor

Three Recent Repairs From The Colony

Customer identifying details omitted; vehicles and circumstances are real recent work from 75056-corridor drivers.

Late 2023 Tesla Model Y, Stewart Peninsula — rear-ended on SH 121 westbound at the Plano Parkway on-ramp. Tollway-speed rear impact collapsed the rear bumper cover, bent the trunk lid inboard, and damaged the blind-spot radar mounts. Tesla's high-strength steel rear structure held up well, but the three radar brackets behind the fascia and the rear camera housing both needed replacement. We sourced Tesla OEM parts (ten-day wait — common on post-2023 Y parts), rebuilt the bumper assembly, color-matched the Pearl White Multi-Coat via spectrophotometer, then ran full static and dynamic ADAS recalibration on Autel MaxiSys before delivery. Total in-shop time: 14 business days. Driver got a free loaner for the duration, and Tesla Insurance covered the claim direct with us.

2022 Cadillac Escalade, The Tribute — Grandscape parking-lot hit outside Scheels. Runaway shopping cart during a Saturday-afternoon wind event gouged the rear passenger door and clipped the fender. No structural damage, but the metallic Deep Amethyst paint is a notoriously hard match — too little red and it reads brown, too much and it reads pink. Two test sprayouts on our blend panels before the final mix landed. Door skin replaced, fender sanded and blended, body-line feathered through to the quarter panel to hide the transition. Four-day turnaround. Cost landed at the lower end of our bumper-replacement range because the cart-strike energy stayed superficial.

2019 Ford F-150, Olde Towne — front-end rebuild after an unprotected left-turn collision at FM 423 and Main Street. Driver-side fender, hood, grille, headlight assembly, radiator support, and the aluminum inner fender panel all needed replacement. F-150's mixed-material construction (aluminum outer body, high-strength steel frame rails) requires two separate welding setups and dedicated aluminum-only tooling to avoid cross-contamination. Our I-CAR Platinum tech handled the aluminum GMA welding in a segregated bay. Frame came out 2mm within factory spec on the Blackhawk Korek bench. Airbag control module reset, forward-collision camera recalibrated, alignment verified on Hunter HawkEye Elite. Three weeks door-to-door; customer had a loaner throughout.

If any of these sound like your situation, start your estimate below or call (972) 219-0864 — we'll walk through what the repair will look like before you commit.

My entire experience with DG Collision and Shah was exceptional. I called a few places to get my Hummer EV repaired, but went with Shah because he was the friendliest and most informative. He kept me updated and dealt with insurance directly. Parts took a long time to arrive — final pieces were delivered to the wrong place and Shah personally went to the other shop to pick them up so I would get my car back sooner.

Common Questions

THE COLONY COLLISION REPAIR FAQ

How far is DG Collision from The Colony?+
About 15-20 minutes door to door. The fastest route is Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121) westbound out of The Colony, exit I-35E south, then Garden Ridge Blvd west and Valley Ridge Blvd into the Metro Park Circle business area in Lewisville. From Grandscape at SH 121 and Plano Pkwy, plan 15 minutes off-peak and 18-20 during the SH 121 commuter stack.
Is the toll road (SH 121) actually faster than Main Street from The Colony?+
Yes — typically 5-8 minutes faster off-peak and more reliable at rush hour. SH 121 stays at 55-70 mph from the Grandscape interchange straight to the I-35E merge; Main Street / FM 423 runs through Little Elm and Lewisville with stoplights every few blocks. The toll is a small charge per trip, but if you're driving in drivable condition and your schedule matters, the tollway is worth it. Save Main Street as your backup when 121 is stacked or when you want the scenic run along Lewisville Lake.
Do you handle customers from Grandscape, The Tribute, and Stewart Peninsula?+
Yes — regular volume from all three. Grandscape (Nebraska Furniture Mart, Scheels, Main Event) generates a steady stream of parking-lot door dings, cart hits, and low-speed fender benders on weekends. The Tribute sends us luxury-SUV work from the golf-community lakefront households. Stewart Peninsula and the Lewisville Lake shoreline neighborhoods send us their daily drivers. We also cover Austin Ranch, Legends Village, Olde Towne The Colony, and The Palomar. Free loaner cars, pickup coordination, and 24/7 towing across the 75056 corridor.
Do you pick up vehicles or provide loaner cars for The Colony residents?+
Yes to both. Free loaner cars are available for any The Colony customer whose vehicle is in for collision repair, subject to availability — we hand you the keys at drop-off so your commute into Plano, Frisco, Irving, or Dallas keeps moving. If your vehicle isn't safe to drive on SH 121, we coordinate customer pickups from anywhere in The Colony and 24/7 towing across DFW. Call (972) 219-0864 to arrange.
Which insurance carriers do you work with for The Colony customers?+
Every major carrier: State Farm, Allstate, Geico, USAA, Progressive, Liberty Mutual, Farmers, Nationwide, Travelers, Tesla Insurance, and more. Under Texas Insurance Code §1952.301, The Colony drivers have the legal right to choose any licensed repair shop regardless of what's on their carrier's preferred-shop list. Your insurer must honor that choice. We handle the entire claim — supplements, parts negotiation, adjuster paperwork — directly, so you aren't chasing phone calls from home or between Grandscape errands.
Is my collision repair covered by a warranty?+
Yes. Every paint and refinish job carries a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the vehicle. If the paint ever peels, fades, or cracks from our work we make it right at no charge. Our structural and workmanship warranty covers labor for a full year on any subsequent issue. We've stood behind every repair since 1978.
What factors affect collision repair cost in The Colony?+
Severity of damage, OEM parts availability, vehicle make and year, aluminum vs steel construction, and whether ADAS sensors need recalibration. The Colony's newer vehicle mix (population grew roughly 30% since the 2010 census, so the driveway fleet skews newer than older suburbs) means a higher share of factory-warranty-age vehicles with ADAS suites that require calibration post-repair. That's a real line item, not a shop upsell — skipping it leaves lane-keep and emergency-braking silently out of spec. Your written estimate is free and itemized down to the labor hour.
Do I need an appointment?+
No. Walk-ins are welcome during business hours — Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:30pm and Saturday 10am-1pm. For The Colony customers who want to minimize the tollway trip, text damage photos to (817) 907-2822 first and we'll give you a ballpark before you head west on SH 121.
How long will my repair take?+
Light cosmetic damage (Grandscape parking-lot scrapes, door dings, bumper scuffs): 2-4 days. Typical bumper-and-panel repair: 5-7 business days. Major collision damage requiring frame straightening or structural welding: 2-3 weeks. We text photo updates throughout the repair and coordinate your loaner car so you aren't waiting without transportation.
Do I have to use my insurance company's preferred shop?+
No. Texas Insurance Code §1952.301 gives you the right to choose any licensed collision repair facility regardless of what's on your carrier's preferred-shop list. Just tell your adjuster: "I want my vehicle repaired at DG Collision Center, 693 Metro Park Cir, Lewisville, TX." That one sentence locks in your choice and we take over the paperwork.
Can you help with my deductible?+
On qualifying collision repairs we offer deductible assistance up to $1,000 — applied directly at pickup. Combined with our direct-to-insurance claim handling and free loaner, most The Colony customers pay less out of pocket than they expected when they first called.
Are your technicians certified to work on newer ADAS-heavy vehicles?+
Yes — DG Collision Center is I-CAR Gold Class certified (the shop-wide designation held by only ~10% of U.S. body shops) and individual technicians hold I-CAR Platinum certification for structural repair, steel GMA welding, and aluminum GMA welding. We're also PPG and Sherwin-Williams certified for refinish, BBB Accredited A+, and we perform ADAS recalibration in-house on every collision-repaired vehicle that requires it. That matters in The Colony where most of the driveway fleet is newer-construction — aluminum-intensive F-150s, Tesla Model 3/Y/S/X, BMW and Audi mixed-material SUVs, and every ADAS suite from Honda Sensing to Toyota Safety Sense.

Collision Terminology

COLLISION REPAIR GLOSSARY

Quick reference for the technical terms that show up on estimates. Tap any term on mobile to expand.

OEM Parts (parts)
Original Equipment Manufacturer parts — made by the same supplier that produced the original part at the factory. Required for airbags, structural reinforcements, and crash sensors on every repair.
Unibody (structure)
Modern vehicle construction where the body and frame are one integrated welded structure. Collision damage to a unibody vehicle requires frame measurement and structural repair to factory dimensions, not just panel replacement.
ADAS (systems)
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems — lane-departure cameras, blind-spot radar, adaptive cruise, parking sensors. Most ADAS components require recalibration after collision repair. We perform both static and dynamic calibrations per OEM spec.
Pre- and Post-Repair Scan (diagnostic)
Electronic module scans performed before and after repair to identify fault codes that may not trip dashboard warning lights. Most insurance "preferred shops" skip this step; we don't.
Supplement (insurance)
An addition to the original insurance estimate when hidden damage is discovered during teardown. Good shops fight for legitimate supplements; cut-rate shops skip repairs the original estimate didn't cover.
Texas §1952.301 (law)
Section of the Texas Insurance Code that guarantees policyholders the right to choose any licensed collision repair facility regardless of an insurer's preferred-shop list. The Colony drivers are protected by this statute.
Spectrophotometer (paint)
A handheld device that reads the exact color values of your vehicle's factory paint. Used to produce a mixing formula that matches the panel being refinished to the panels around it — critical for metallics and pearls.
Loaner Car (customer service)
A courtesy vehicle provided free of charge to customers whose vehicles are in for collision repair — DG maintains its own fleet of 50+ loaner vehicles. Covers the transportation gap when a customer's auto policy doesn't include rental reimbursement.
