SHAH JIWANI
Owner, DG Collision Center — 30+ years of DFW collision repair · Updated
The Short Version
Shah Jiwani is the owner of DG Collision Center in Lewisville, Texas, with more than 30 years of hands-on collision repair experience in the Dallas–Fort Worth market. He joined DG Collision in the 1990s as a body technician, earned equity in the business over years of work, and took over as owner around 2005. He holds I-CAR Gold Class, PPG Certified Refinish, and Sherwin-Williams Automotive certifications, and under his ownership the shop has earned more than 500 five-star Google reviews.
Three Decades in DFW Body Shops
DG Collision Center has been repairing vehicles in Lewisville since 1978. Shah is not the original founder — he's something less common in this industry: an owner who came up through the floor of the same shop he now runs. He started at DG Collision in the 1990s doing hands-on repair work — pulling dents, prepping and blocking panels, setting up frame pulls, and learning the insurance side of the counter between jobs.
That work earned him equity in the business over time, and around 2005 he took over as owner. He has led the shop ever since — through the industry's shift from single-stage paint to waterborne basecoat systems, from mostly-steel unibodies to aluminum-intensive trucks like the Ford F-150, and from simple bumper covers to bumpers packed with radar sensors and cameras that need recalibration after every repair.
Thirty years in one market also builds pattern recognition you can't shortcut. Shah has worked through every major DFW hail season since the mid-1990s, and the shop's spring intake routine — triage, insurance documentation, the paintless-dent-repair-versus-panel-replacement call — was built from that repetition. It's also why the shop does ADAS calibration in-house rather than subletting it: sensor-equipped bumpers now arrive on ordinary commuter cars, not just luxury vehicles.
He still runs the shop day to day. Shah personally oversees vehicle intake, coordinates with insurance adjusters on estimates and supplements, and signs off on final quality control before a car goes home. Two decisions under his ownership say a lot about how he operates: the shop maintains a fleet of 50+ loaner vehicles that customers drive free for the duration of their repair, and every published cost figure on this website comes from the shop's own written estimates — not from national averages.
What He's Certified In
- I-CAR Gold Class. The collision industry's most recognized training designation, held by roughly 10% of U.S. body shops. Gold Class isn't bought once — it requires ongoing annual training across estimating, structural, and refinish roles to keep.
- PPG Certified Refinish. Factory training on PPG's automotive refinish systems — color matching, blending, and application standards on the paint side of the shop.
- Sherwin-Williams Automotive Certified. Certification on Sherwin-Williams' automotive refinish line, the shop's second paint system.
Beyond the certificates, his working knowledge covers collision repair, paintless dent repair (PDR), frame straightening, ADAS calibration, aluminum body repair, and the practical side of Texas insurance claims — supplements, total-loss math, and the shop-choice rights Texas law gives drivers.
How Shah Reviews This Site's Content
Every guide, service page, and cost article on dgcollision.com is reviewed and approved by Shah before it publishes, and re-reviewed when it changes. The full process — standards, sources, and how corrections work — is documented in our editorial policy. The cost ranges in our repair guides come from the shop's own written estimates in the current DFW market, and the "Reviewed by Shah Jiwani" bylines across the site link back to this page.
One position he holds shows up all over our content: honesty with insurers is non-negotiable. Estimates reflect the actual damage, billing reflects the actual repair, and customers are told what Texas law actually says — starting with Tex. Ins. Code §1952.301, which gives you the right to choose your own repair shop no matter which shop your insurer suggests.
